Hey Jedi welcome to the 34th edition of the Identity Jedi Newsletter. Coming to you on a Wednesday evening, so sit back, pour a glass of wine, throw on some smooth jazz, and as you read this, do so in the voice of Barry White.

You're Welcome

RSA is behind us, and Idenitverse is in front of us. I can’t wait to get to Vegas and hang out with all of you! I’m bringing my Identity Jedi Shirt are you? If you don’t have one, that’s ok. Super easy to get one. Hit the referral link and get to sharing, let’s make sure you get it before Vegas because you know people are going to have a serious case of FOMO! Thank you for all the support, we are continuing to grow, and I’m so thankful for each and every one of you. This past month we set a record for the number of subscribers in a month ( again!) with 57 new members!

We said goodbye to one member, we wish them well and hope to see them again soon. I cried about it…but then the Lakers beat the Warriors in Game 1, and I felt better, sooo ya know. Life.

So let’s kick this month of with a bang. Hit that referral link, share on social, forward the newsletter to your friends, and let’s see if we can put 100 new subs in this month!!! ( It only takes ten for you to get your free t-shirt Jedi, just saying…it’s going to be cool. I don’t want you to feel left out. )

Let’s Get to the Good Stuff!

  • Google Authenticator gets and Update

  • Zero Trust and Legacy Systems

  • Decentralized Identity

Google Authenticator gets an update

Listen, we all know that the cloud is the safest place for your information to be, and by all means, we want things to be dead simple for the user, so Google Authenticator rolls out the ability for you to sync your one-time codes to your Google account, so when you switch phones, you can still access them. Because nothing ever makes it out of the cloud right? Ok sarcasm aside, it’s a move to catch up with the competition and make things easier for users. As we shift to a new age of empowering users with control over their identity data, it will need to come with more responsibility for the user, and that also means vendors need to give users features to manage said responsibility. Because we all know that with great power…..

Zero Trust and Legacy Systems

A good reality check article about the journey to Zero Trust architectures. A company like Siemens, which is basically a company of companies, an approach like this will take years. YEARS. I like the pragmatic approach that’s laid out and absolutely love the callout around heavily regulated industries that often have dated hardware and software systems. We have to find ways to keep them at the forefront because it’s the weakest in the pack that’s always targeted.

Beehiiv

A quick shoutout about Beehiiv. Hands down, it’s the best newsletter platform ever created.

I love everything about it, and they are the engine behind making sure this comes to your inbox every week. But not only that, they’ve mastered the ability to make writing easy and effortless. I actually look forward to putting this together every week, and I swear they drop a new feature like every other week. The product leader in me is so proud.

So if you’ve been thinking of writing a newsletter, maybe even just internally for your organization. You NEED TO TRY out Beehiiv. Hit the link, and get started.

You’ll love it.

Decentralized Identity

This article did an excellent job of breaking down the concept of decentralized identity. Man, when I tell you, this is a hot-button topic, lol. But it’s an important one to understand and discuss because while it’s not perfect, it is very capable of helping us solve some of the bigger issues we face right now regarding identity and privacy. The key word here is CAPABLE.

Identity Intervention

What happens when the Identity Jedi and a world-class IAM consulting company get together?

PURE FREAKING MAGIC

This program we’ve put in place will supercharge your identity program. NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THE PROCESS.

Don’t believe me? Try us and see.

Ok, so I noticed that some of these podcasts haven’t been updated in a while, so I’m trying to make sure I give you links to shows with recent episodes. If you’ve got recommendations for podcasts that you like. Leave a comment, and let me know!!

The Last Word

We are at the precipice of change Jedi. We can all sense it. AI, Web3, an economic downturn. I get it; change can be frightening and downright terrifying. But we entered an industry that’s driven by change. In fact, I would argue that’s what we do. We are change agents. So I’m going to ask you not to give in to that fear. It’s crucial that we get through this because the decisions that will be made in the next 18 months could have an impact on a generation. And yeah, that seems like a big statement. That’s because it is. So grab your seat belt, buckle up, and let’s make this happen.

For all of us.

Ask questions.

Challenge ideas.

Share the newsletter. 😀

Be Good to each other, Be Kind to each other, Love each other
