Hey Jedi welcome to the 92nd edition of the Identity Jedi Newsletter! We are back to our regular schedule of bi-weekly, although I must admit.…weekly was super fun! Maybe…juuuust maybe we may bring that back. This week’s edition we’ve got a nice juicy acquisition to dig into, some interesting partnership news from some unlikely partners. But first quick shout out to our sponsor The Rundown AI for partnering with us on this edition. I find the world of AI absolutely fascinating and it’s hard to keep up with everything that’s going on. That’s where The Rundown comes in! If AI is your thing, show our sponsor some love.

Now Let’s Get to the Good Stuff!

Silverfort and Rezonate sitting in a tree

Ok seriously, how many of you finished that sentence? It’s ok you can admit it.

Alright so let’s dig in here.

Silverfort is attempting to, and I quote: “ Building the world’s first end-to-end identity security platform”

Love the bravado.

So let’s look at what this means. Rezonate was a small startup deeply focused on Non-Human Identity, Identity Threat Detection and Identity Security Posture Management. Said simply..we want to understand what the users are what they can access and what they are doing. Giving companies visibility AND the ability to action. WIth heavy focus on cloud environments and SaaS applications.

Now you can question, isn’t that what Silverfort does as well? Kinda.

Silvefort was mostly built around IDP’s ( Specifically AD, don’t get me started) and providing visibility and protection around the authentication flows of an account in your environment. ( I’m simplifying, so don’t @ me Silverfort). But in my opinion this isn’t a bad thing. Authentication is the front door and really the first “active” interaction you have with a user. From this standpoint you know “who they are, what they want, and what they are doing”. That’s a great starting point.

But they ( Silverfort) were heavily AD focused.

This ( Rezonate) gives them the ability to broaden that scope. ( Yes AD administrators people authenticate with other things besides AD, I know I know, it’s crazy. You would think we were living in 2024 or something….)

What I find really interesting is the signal this gives to the market. Identity security requires a combination of things. Your typical IAM platforms aren’t enough, your typical security platforms aren’t enough. It’s something new entirely.

Congrats to the Rezonate team and to the Silverfort team. Go forth and do great things!

Building the world’s first end-to-end identity security platform  Unlikely Duo’s?

SGNL, Jamf, CyberArk and Wiz all walk into a bar…

Some very interesting partnership announcements coming from the world of Identity.

SGNL and Jamf team up to strengthen security around devices and providing access to resources. Better context for SGNL which allows customers to make better policy decisions for access. ( Gotta get closer to the user interaction to really make all the magic we want to happen, this is going to be a theme).

CyberArk teams with Wiz to figure out whose security platform is better. Joking. CyberArk brings their knowledge of privileged accounts and machine identity, to the security monster that is Wiz.

And we know what they say about partnerships…..

What’s Missing In your IAM Strategy?

Many organizations invest in IAM tools and platforms but still fall short in achieving their security and efficiency goals. Why? Because effective IAM strategies require more than just technology. Full article here.

(FYI - I’ll probably start linking the articles so that way email providers don’t clip the newsletter)
